The Riverside, Woodbridge

Thank you to our wonderful partners, The Riverside, our sponsors, University of Suffolk and Production Bureau, funding body The Independent Cinema Office through Film Hub South East and to everyone that made the day so incredible. It was amazing that so many of our audience, including filmmakers who travelled long distances, battled the weather, train replacement services and crazy level of roadworks to be with us.

EYES FRONT

Director: Alex Wheeler

“An exceptional film. I loved the energy and tension right from the start. It is an awkward, hard watch at points, but really well executed and such an important narrative and topic. Can't believe this is a student film.”

CHILDREN OF ORPHEUS

Director: Derkan Dogan

“This captures the feeling of being young and playing with being a god, feeling alone but because of some pulse, feeling connected. This film tells many stories without saying anything.”

ROCK PAPER SCISSORS

Director: Franz Böhm

"A bit Paul Greengrass... a fantastic  lead performance, obviously personal, obviously powerful. I felt that even if it had been fiction it still would have had some power."

SKELTER

Director: Max Morgan

What impresses is the unadorned way it is shot — the dull cloud cover, the no-make up faces — which all serve to heighten the melancholy of an end of season fairground.”

James Christopher - Jury

“It took me straight back to growing up in Suffolk, and the fairs of my youth.”

Dani Church - Jury

Celebrating short films in Suffolk

WE BRING INDEPENDENT

BRITISH AND

INTERNATIONAL SHORT

FILMS TO A NEW

AUDIENCE, AND CHAMPION

LOCAL FILMMAKERS

We are committed to ensuring greater access for as wide an audience as possible, in a region currently lacking opportunities for engagement with independent British and International short film.

We believe that short films are the future. We are looking for films that experiment, push boundaries, tell a story you haven't heard before and do so in a way that captivates the audience. We are not just looking for highly polished, big budget productions, we want to celebrate all filmmakers, regardless of their access to resources.
